2004 Ross Elbourn Turkey Trott
Birthday Boy!Birthday Boy!

To celebrate Ross's birthday the Turkey Trot was started many moons ago. This years event was at The Hertfordshire Golf and Country Club. On a bracing December day, a bunch of hackers got more than they had bargained for! The Committee had been let loose and managed to draw up some interesting rules!

  1. As it’s the Christmas season the Ross Elbourn Birthday Classic is all about having fun and enjoying a good day out

  2. There are a number of rules that players must be aware of

  3. The format is Texas Scramble

  4. Hookers and Pullers Golf Society members will play off their Society handicaps – non members will play off their declared handicaps

  5. An average handicap will be calculated for each team and this is the handicap that will apply for the competition

  6. The Teams for the day will be selected at the beginning of the competition and will be drawn out of a hat. There are some exceptions to this rule - either as visitors or for health reasons. More info on the day

  7. Each player within a team can select (at outset of the competition) to play the competition with a maximum of three clubs

  8. All club selection is a free choice however they must be different within each team

  9. There must be no duplicate clubs within a team. The only exception to this rule is the putter

  10.  If a club is shared (even by one other person) this must be recorded on the score card by a large S by the side of the hole on which the club was shared

  11. Each player MUST use a golf bag. Sharing of golf bags is not permitted by the Golf Cub

  12.  Each team member must complete a minimum of 4 drives (off the tee) during the competition. The players initials should be noted by the side of the hole on which they drove

  13. Each team players drive that is on the fairway of the 17th hole must be marked. Each player will be given a marker with their name on it

  14. Each team players tee shot that lands on the green of the 18th hole must be marked. Each player will be given a marker with their name on it

  15. Hookers and Pullers dress code is compulsory for members

  16. Hip flasks are compulsory (except for car drivers)
