2004 Ross Elbourn Turkey Trott
Birthday Boy!
To celebrate Ross's birthday the Turkey Trot was
started many moons ago. This years event was at The Hertfordshire
Golf and Country Club. On a bracing December day, a bunch of hackers
got more than they had bargained for! The Committee had been let
loose and managed to draw up some interesting rules!

As its the
Christmas season the Ross Elbourn Birthday Classic is all about having
fun and enjoying a good day out

There are a
number of rules that players must be aware of
-
The format
is Texas Scramble
-
Hookers and
Pullers Golf Society members will play off their Society handicaps non
members will play off their declared handicaps
-
An average
handicap will be calculated for each team and this is the handicap that
will apply for the competition
-
The Teams
for the day will be selected at the beginning of the competition and
will be drawn out of a hat. There are some exceptions to this rule -
either as visitors or for health reasons. More info on the day

Each player
within a team can select (at outset of the competition) to play the
competition with a maximum of three clubs
-
All club
selection is a free choice however they must be different within each
team
-
There must
be no duplicate clubs within a team. The only exception to this rule is
the putter
-
If
a club is shared (even by one other person) this must be recorded on the
score card by a large S by the side of the hole on which the club was
shared
-
Each
player MUST use a golf bag. Sharing of golf bags is not permitted by the
Golf Cub
-
Each
team member must complete a minimum of 4 drives (off the tee) during the
competition. The players initials should be noted by the side of the
hole on which they drove

Each team
players drive that is on the fairway of the 17th hole
must be marked. Each player will be given a marker with their name on it
-
Each team
players tee shot that lands on the green of the 18th hole
must be marked. Each player will be given a marker with their name on it
-
Hookers and
Pullers dress code is compulsory for members
-
Hip flasks
are compulsory (except for car drivers)
